PASSENGER HANDLING in Flight and at the Airport

🌍 PASSENGER HANDLING ✈

Refers to airline employees who deal directly with customers (passengers) at the airport. Ticket or check-in desk agents, gate agents, red coats, customer service desk reps, etc. Are said to work in Passenger Handling.

Cabin Crew are expected to be knowledgable of all definitions and restrictions of passenger handling procedures.

PASSENGER CLASSIFICATION:

👶 Infant

✔ 16 days but less 2 years old or in the absence of documentary proof, not more than 30 inches in height must be at least 16 days on the day of travel.

🔹 Accompanied by an adult of parent.

🔸 Occupt non-exit seats.

🔹 If assigned to an aisle seat, head away from aisle.

👦 Children 👧

✔ 2 years old but less than 12 years old.

❌ Not allowed without an accompanying adult / parent unless as Unaccompanied Minor.

👱 Adult 👩

✔ 12 years old above.

❌ No restrictions except those who fall under special passenger classification.

💺 PASSENGER SEATING:

🔸Each passenger who has reached his second birthday must occupy a seat.

🔹 Passengers must be seated in their seats, with seatbelt fastened during all taxi, take-off's and landings.

🔸 Provision of one seat belt for one person at any time.

🔹 An infant who has not reached his second birthday shall be given an infant seatbelt.

👩‍🦽 SPECIAL PASSENGER HANDLING 🦼

👉 Need special assistance due to medical requirements or physical incapacity to comply with safety procedures in flight. (Pax with reduced mobility).

SPECIAL PASSENGERS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

🔹 Unaccompanied Minor - Traveling Alone

🔸 Handicapped Passengers (Blind /Deaf/ Mute)

🔹 Stretcher Passenger - Must be acompanied by doctor / etc.

🔸 Ambulatory Passenger

🔹 Non - Ambulatory - Wheelchair Guest

SPECIAL PASSENGERS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO FOLLOWING:

🤰 Pregnant Passenger

📑 Passenger carrying own medical requirements

👵 Elderly or frail pax

👮 Prisoners

🔹 NTL - Not to land passengers

🔸 Obesewho require extension seatbelt

(Not to seat at over wing exit 15-18 kilos)

PASSENGER WITH DISABILIIES:

🔹Handicapped passengers with plaster cast should not be seated in such way that it may obstruct the aisle.

HANDICAPPED PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔸 Deaf, mute, Non-ambulatory / ambumatory PAX (i.e. Amptee, Pax with cast, Pax with crutches, Piolio, Pax with special equipment, Pax with Arthritis, etc.)

🔹 AMBULATORY PAX: is a person travelling sickor under medical treatment who is capable to perform normal passenger activities.

🔸 NON-AMBULATORY PAX: is a person travelling sick / with leg impairment or under medical treatment who cannot perform a normal passenger activities. He/she is classified as wheelchair passenger.

LETTER OF INDEMNITY

🔹 Is required to be brought to the aircraft by the Ramp Agent prior to boarding. (Informing pilot, special handling forms.)

VISUALLY IMPAIRED PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔸 Permitted for carriage provided they are assisyed by personal helper. They are not permitted to travel if they have no personal asssistance available and they are solely reliant upon upon airline or ground handling staff for assistance.

PREGNANT PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔹 A medical clearance from a physician is required.

✔ Pregnancy between 30-35 weeks with a doctor's certificate confirming that she is fit to travel.

✔ Pregnancy 35 weeks and over will be refused carriage.

ELDERLY:

🔸 Give special assistance in flight.

🔹 No elderly passenger shall be assigned to exit row seats.

PASSENGER (PAX) CARRYING OWN OXYGEN:

🔸 The oxygen equipment shall be approved by the company.

🔹 Capable of providing a maximum supply of oxygen needed the whole flight.

🔸 The passenger and his or her companion must know how to operate.

PRISONER:

🔹 Clearance from DOJ/ PNP/ Bureau of jail mamagement and penology required.

🔸 Ensure that prisoner is accompanied by a law enforcement officer at all times.

LIMITATION IN ACCEPTING PRISONERS ON BOARD:

🔹 Prisoner under maximum protection or is considered "dangerous" must have at least 2 securities.

Inform the Flight Deck Crew

NOTE: Only one prisoner is allowed in the flight.

STOW AWAY PASSENGER (PAX):

🔸 An unregistered or unticketed person who intentionally conceals himself / herself in the aircraft to obtain free transportation.

ON GROUND:

🔹 Inform the Flight Deck upon discovery.

🔸 Advice Ramp Agent and request for Security Officer for proper action.

🔹 Write incident in the Inflight Report Form.

CHILDREN AS PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔸 Keep children seated and occupied.

🔹 Should not be seated adjacent to an emergency exit to avoid tampering with the exit mechanism and to facilitate aircraft evacuation if needed arises.

NON-REVENUE PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔸 Must be treated with the same courtesy and attention as revenue passengers.

IRRITATED INFANT:

🔹 Prior to boarding, the Ground Handling Agent shall inform the Cabin Crew on board the number of infants to be on board.

🔸 The (CIC) Cabin Crew In-Charge informs the Captain that there will be a number of infants on board the flight. (CIC does tge headcount the number of infants on board to tally to the MANIFEST endorsed by Ground Handling Agent).

🔹 Infant life vest are used for infants and children up to the age of 2 years old or 35 lbs in weight.

NERVOUS / APPREHENSIVE AND FIRST RIDER PASSENGERS (PAX):

🔸 First Riders, nervous, and apprehensive passengers will be accommodated in flight.

DEATH ON BOARD:

🔹 If death takes place inform the Captain the following:

👉 Passengers name

👉 Passenger's condition befire death

👉 The probable cause if death.

👉 Actions taken prior to or during the death.

👉 The time of death.

👉 The procedures of transporting the deceased. Gather his or her items give it to his companion or security.

SERVING ALCOHOL BEVERAGE:

❌ No passenger may drink any alcohol beverage aboard the flight unless the CC has serverd that beverage to him/her as part of the on board services.

No alcohol beverage shall be given to:

🔸 Passengers who appears to be intoxicated.

🔹 Mentally ill passenger.

🔸 Passenger whi carries dangerous weapon / armories (e.g. security escort of prisoners)

🔹 Prisoners

🔸 Deathhead CC/CC on duty

🔹 Children
